A few years ago
while visiting a client's business and the CEO, a mid-level manager,
and I were walking across the parking lot on our way back from lunch.
Suddenly the CEO excused himself and walked about 50 yards away from
us, then bent over and picked up a small piece of trash that was lying
in the parking lot.

It happens to all of us: The To Do List grows and grows and grows when
we get busy. Soon there are all kinds of things on it that are not
likely to get done, but we keep them there because we, at one time,
planned to do them.

If your business reaches out to markets that include young people,
there are few things more powerful than a mascot that the kids will
remember. Use a friendly image that somehow ties to your business and
have the mascot wander around your business from time to time, or make
visits to local schools, malls, and so forth.

(or your profession, or your personal life) with an eye on what could
be eliminated. Your goal is to identify things that use up available
resources, but contribute little to the bottom line or to the
achievement of your personal and professional objectives.

When someone asks you "How are you today?" what is your typical
response? Do you give the normal, customary, boring, and often ignored
response of "Fine, how are you?"? Next time, try this: Take advantage
of the opportunity to make both your day and the inquirer's day better
by responding with something like... "Outstanding!" or "Fantastic!" or
"Exceptional!" or "Awesome!" (the list could go on and on).
